I upgraded to this Motorola V180 flip phone 1 day ago. I was very pleased with the initial look of the phone. Very shiny black finish on the front cover gives this phone a totally different look. As far as features, this phone is fully loaded. The speaker phone is super clear and the phone is very easy to use. I recommend the phone as a top pick!!!

I am very dissapointed with my phones. I bought 2 with my Cingular plan, and they drop calls practacly every other call, and I constantly have failed calls. The phones do have excellent battery life, but who cares when you plug them in every night anyway. We've had the phones for a year now. Had to get a new phone shortly after purchasing because of the dropped calls, but that didn't help at all. I do love the speaker option, and will look for a better phone this spring with that option (I'm sure they're out there). I expected much more from Motorola. It was a big let down. I will be very reluctant to buy Motorola again. How can they make such a terrible phone?!

The Motorola V180 is a hrrible cell phone. Dust behind the screen and easily scratched. I complained about poor reception, so they replaced the antenna...which they said were defective. Still horrible reception! I live within 100ft. of a centennial whatever store where it was purchased and the thing still gets no reception. Centennial should be refunding me considering the number of calls it has dropped. People can hardly hear me and it often fails to notify me of received calls or voicemails until three hours later! Despite having a full set of bars the whole time! argh! Screw you motorola, I'm buying a new phone from somebody else.

I have had the Motorola V180 phone for eleven months and have been satisfied with the phone. The face plate scratches easily and gets dust behind it and in front of the external screen, but my concerns have been superficial like that. Last month, however, the screen went bad. I have not dropped the phone nor treated it harshly. When I change phones, I lose all of my address information because the only way to save the address book for transfer requires using the screen to manipulate through the screens. I will not be buying another Motorola.

The Motorola V180 is the worst cell phone I have ever owned. I had a Nokia that I really liked, but I replaced it with V180 to get the advanced network features -- big mistake! This a cheap piece of junk that scratches easily and provides very poor reception. I am only about 15 months into a two-year contract and I will probably drop the contract just to get rid of this stinking phone. By the way, Cingular is zero help. They did replace the SIM chip, which improved reception for about week. That erased all of my stored numbers, even though said it would not erase them. I am done with both Cingular and Motorola. Neither company seems to have a clue. They just sell but don't service.

I have to say that the Motorola v180 is the worst phone for reception if you live outside of any city. We had other phones that were the older Nokia that worked outside the city limits but we can't get even one bar at home. As far as the rest of the phone is concerned it is fine. I find it very user friendly and I have never had a problem with the battery life either.

I have had the Motorola V180 for about 3 months. I hate it. The cheap plastic design sucks! The faceplate scratches easily. It's over all easy to use, but I can't use it with NO signal. I can't wait until I can get a new, different phone.

This is a horrible phone. I have had many different cell phones and the Motorola v180 is the worst one. This phone gets horrible reception, and horrible statice. Cingular will replace them but the catch is they send you a refurbished one, which I would probably be better off with my original. I have been through about 5 of these only because I am waiting to sign another contract to get a different phone. Don't get this phone!

The v180 has taken a lot of heat over the last year for it's problems with the cheap plastic construction and screens cracking. My screen has gone blank on 2 or 3 different occasions, but it was easily corrected by taking the battery out and putting it back in. I have not had any problems with cracking, but I have also never dropped my phone in my year of ownership. If you are prone to dropping your phone, then I would advise you to choose a sturdier model based on the numerous complaints by other owners.
The battery life is the best I have ever seen in a cell phone. My wife needs to recharge her samsung every 2 or 3 days while mine lasts closer to 6 or 7 days with regular short-call use. Very impressive battery life.
Games are a dissapointment on this phone because of the small screen size.
I have been pretty pleased with this phone, but I wouldn't pay $30 again for it. Wait til you see it free with a plan.

The Motorola V180 is the worst phone I ever owned, I have to talk either by a window or go outside to use the damn thing....the kicker is that I unfortunately have two of these stupid disfunctional phones and they also never send or receive text messages, I think this is by far the worst, Oh yeah and it only shows the last 10 calls made/received which totally sux, the overall quality of the phone if you actually want to talk on it and now screw around with the features that have nothing to do with actually communicating with people completely sticks.

I purchased this phone last year to try Cingular's service in this area.
I have not been disappointed with the phone or the service, it's great!
I have checked with other people who have other service providers to compare their coverage and connection quality with mine, the result is and has always been as good and most times better than the others. And at a better price than anyone else can beat. Just wish it was still available in this area.
I want to upgrade my service and get my wife a Motorola V180 too.

My Motorola V180 phone gave me tons of trouble after about 5 months. It always had static and eventually the person on the other line could not hear me about 70% of the time. I got it exchanged so we'll see how that goes. Oh, and it scratches VERY easily which worries me about whether the warranty will charge me for "damaging" their phone....

I should have known better when the first Motorola V180 I got froze up and required a battery removal to reset. I traded the phone in and got another Motorola V180 and have been disappointed ever since. The phone is easy to use and I have been generally pleased with the overall design and battery life. However, the joy stops when I use the phone. Call quality is marginal and this is the first phone I have ever owned that drops the signal regularly. I cannot count the times I have had no signal at all while friends enjoy full strength high quality reception. This is the second Motorola phone I have owned and will certainly be the last. Is a cell phone convenient if I have to go outside to make all my calls?

The Motorola V180 was an upgrade. I had a V60 and several Nokia models without any technical problems. I loved the look and the functions of the phone. The call quality was awful. It was always dropping calls, sending calls straight to voicemail (even when on) and then messages took anywhere from a few seconds to a few days to signal. There was always static and sometimes the screen went blank for no reason.
I called Cingular and they replaced it under warranty. The replacement phone was a refurbished v180. The call quality was better, but there was a fat white bar through the screen that blanked the 3rd row of a text message. Cingular was helpful and is replacing the 180 with a v220 for free. Hopefully I won't have any problems with that one.

I'm in the process of replacing my 3rd Motorola V180 phone. With each phone I've had the same problem...the screen will go blank and the phone just dies. I really can't tell you what the problem is, but I think that it's inherent to the phone. T-Mobile just keeps replacing my phone with the same model which always (inevitably) dies after a couple of months of use.
Aside from this major problem, the faceplate does scratch easily and the volume is very low on the phone (callers are hard to hear). I would not recommend this phone.

I get constant dropped calls using the Motorola V180. I do not receive calls...people who call me often get my voicemail immediately even though my phone is on. I like the way it looks, and the battery life is decent, but I really would like to talk to people who call me when they call me!

The Motorola V180 seems to have good and bad days. At times it might take days for me to get a voice mail are missed call alert. Sometimes people tell me they called me and the phone never received it. It's not the service because the nokia I had before didn't do it. I changed phones not service. If you like a phone compact this is the phone for you. I thought that was me, but it feels like your talking on a toy phone because of the size. I bought 5 v180s for the family and mine is the only one that the outside screen still works, lucky me. The battery life on the phone is the only positive thing, it needs charging about every 4 days with moderate use.

Worst piece of junk I have ever owned. The Motorola V180 phone drops calls all of the time, face plate scratches easy, screen freezes, back falls off, voice messages and missed calls sometimes show up a week later and very poor reception. I am not eligible for upgrade so I am going to have to pay full price for a new phone that works for both my husband and me. We both have this piece of junk. And what makes it even worse is we sent in for the rebates on these phones and never even received them so we ended up paying full price which makes me sick because as soon as I get new phones I am going to give these phones to my kids to destroy!

I go the Motorola V180 as a free phone for switching from AT&T to Cingular. The phone drops calls left and right , thought it was the cell service but after talking to a few people and reading some reviews it is the phone and not the service. The phone is cheap made in China.

My husband and I both have the Motorola V180 phone, and both of our screens do not work now. In fact, the screens are a dark blue with no graphics! We've only had these phones for about 7 months. My phone also tends to freeze and get "stuck." We went to Cingular, and they told us to mail in our phones to get another one just like it?? No thanks! But since we are not eligible for a new phone for 1.5 years, we really have no choice.

I have had the Motorola V180 phone 11 months and am very disappointed with its performance. It drops 10 calls for everyone it comp lets. On several occasions I have been places where I can't place a call while other people with the same service but different phones have strong signals. The plastic front scratches easily. If you are offered a plan with this phone run I have taken it back to the carrier twice but they can solve the problem. One more month and this phone is gone!

After reading some of these other reviews on the Motorola V180, I thought it was just my phone. It's true the vibrate does not work, the outside display to say who is calling only works sometimes-I have to open it and close it numerous times before it will click on, dropped calls alot, on its highest volume number still sounds low and I have good hearing, I have had it replaced once in a year-the prong to plug the battery in to broke out and they charged me $85 dollars to replace it when it was less than 6 months old and a manufacturing problem, when you plug in an earpiece-doesn't work, all staticy. Basically it's not a great phone. My new Nokia 6102 is on it's way!!!

The Motorola V180 phone is terrible! The reception is much worse than friends who have other phones on the same carrier. It drops calls often. The vibrate feature stopped working after a couple months. Speakerphone quality is weak. The black cover scratches easily. It looks ok, but the actual function of this phone is very cheap. That is why it is offered FREE with a new plan. Its not worth it to get a FREE phone!

The Motorola v180 is a cheap piece of garbage that won't even last the life of a 2yr contract. We went from a v60 to the v180. Since day one the phone interferes with everything from the car radio to my landline at work. I get frequent dropped calls and it's been getting worse. The internal screen died at 10 months. Thank heavens that I only had a 1 year contract and can replace it.

Don't get the Motorola V180 phone - there are many others available that must be better!
I get dropped calls all of the time. Other times the ringer doesn't announce incoming calls. The worst part is the LCD screen doesn't light up 75% of the time when I flip it open, meaning I must wrestle with it, sometimes fruitlessly, in order to access my call lists or messages. It's a hunk of junk. The worst part is, in order to replace it with another "FREE" phone- I'm going to have to wait till the end of my agreement. Otherwise I'll have to pay an extension fee or just flat pay for a new phone (that isn't going to happen). So basically- this phone didn't even last 10 months. That's pitiful.

The Motorola V180 cell phone is the worst phone ever. I get dropped calls and the vibrate doesn't work. I miss my voice mails or its delayed up to 6 days and the display is hard to see. I got this phone in Jan. 05 - in 9 months I have had 4 batteries, and two replacement phones. My Husband and daughter have same phone with the same problems. Can't compare to Nokia, but I need a quad phone that works overseas -most phones don't have the 900 frequency band. If you use phone in USA only, don't get a Motorola. Don't ask Cingular for another phone - they'll send a reconditioned dud - time after time.

The motorola v180 is by far the worst cell phone I have ever owned. I have lots of dropped calls, calls that never even come through, the screen freezes up all of the time, my front display does not work at all anymore so I can't see who is calling. My vibrate mode has not worked for months. We go to a town 30 minutes away and the phones have no service at all. I know this should not happen because we can be with friends who are with the same carrier and their phones work just fine. I would not recommend this phone to anyone.

The quality of the speaker option on the Motorola V180 cell phone is terrible. The color contrast in which you view the selected option from your address book is poor. The address system is not user friendly you have to enter a name more than once and assign a number type rather than enter the name once and multiple numbers with icons to depict the number.

I must say that so far I am completely happy with this cell phone. This is all I need, I already have a digital camera, and can get a video recorder. All I wanted was a phone. The reception is great, voice quality and clarity of calls are the best I have heard in a while, features are very adequate, included ringtones are more than I have seen in other phones, the phone is compact and light weight. Many people complain the face scratches easily, well keep it in a leather case, I do, no scratches. Easy to store number either to phone or Sim card.

I purchased the V180 cell phone back in May of this year. It's a pretty good phone. The case seems kind of flimsy, but other than that it's ok. I do have the issue of the screen freezing up every now and then when I text message. It turns it self off and then comes back on all on it's own.

I think that the Motorola v180 phone is horrible! I only had the phone (2 of them) for 4 months and the buttons actually fell off, glue on other side still stuck to the buttons. The antennas popped off. My screen goes black, goes sideways, blinks, terrible phone. The worse part is that Cingular will not let me upgrade and Motorola will not refund because they say that buttons and aerials are not covered parts! So my choices were to purchase a phone at the Cingular store - yeah right, $200 a phone! They could not give me any special offers because I am not a new member. So for their current customers there are no discounts, only for start up members???
My other choice is to cancel the Cingular contract, pay the fee and switch to anther carrier just to get working phones!!! My choice is T-Mobile, they were the only carrier that was very understanding to my situation and gave me promotion code after promotion code so I am actually getting money back to pay Cingular's cancellation fee and new phones for free!
Cingular has very very bad customer service for their current customers. The Motorola phone in my opinion is junk!

It took me a while to learn how to use the Motorola V180 cell phone. The manual is laughable. They mention a few things available with this phone and then let you figure out how to do it. The over all phone quality seems okay and I haven't had any problems yet except some dropped calls which I never had on my Nokia even when I was roaming. The voice dialing doesn't work very well and I probably won't even use it. Other than that it is a decent phone and I like the basic features.

All pros...no cons for the Motorola V180 cell phone....People with bads remarks about this phone must have a bad network service provider. I have been with Cingular for years. The Motorola V180 is a good looking phone with good battery life. Call quality is accetable. Reception is better than my 2-year-old LG phone with Verizon in my area. The worst experience with the phone is the easy of use about this phone. It needs to redesign on the programing. Too much scrolling. Phone book design is particular need help.

The Motorola V180 cell phone is alright if you are not going to use it much but I bought mine six months ago and the antenna on it already broke off, and I have to get a new phone. Ok for people who don't use cell phones much but for a college student bad phone to buy.
P.S the battery dies really quickly also

This cell phone worked great for the first few months. Call quality good, speakerphone was good too. Only problem was the display couldn't be seen in daylight. Then for some reason, the screen started to freeze. I ended up having to repeatedly flip the cover open and shut until the screen would refresh itself, only to freeze again a little later. Called tech support to see how to solve the problem -- master reset, software upgrade, etc. -- but tech was no help at all. Ended up returning the phone.

The Motorola V180 is the worst phone to have. In December I got my boyfriend the phone. All of a sudden the screen went blank. It never came back on. So, I got him the same phone, but from a different place, the same thing happened. So, I sent it back and they sent me the same phone again. He had that pone for a couple of days, before it got stolen. So, my advice to everyone is that if you're looking to buy a phone, DO NOT get he Motorola V180. It's a terrible investment.

The motorlola V180 is the upgrade from the long lost Moto V66. It replaces the cheap V66 by switching from the cheap plastic shell, adding battery life, give a color screen, external id and no more screen going out on you. Motorola has equipped the V-Series phones with a sensor that turns the back light behind the keys on in ambiant lighting and off in day lighting. Nice Feature. Saves Battery.

This Motorola V180 is a very nice phone with many features. The most notable feature in my opinion is the speakerphone. It does a very good job, for such a small phone.
I use the phone several times a day, and the phone gets very good battery life.
I highly recommend this phone.
Cons:

Very good basic flip with not all the bells and whistles. Speakerphone is great considering the size and type of phone. Display is small due to Motorola's ego surrounding the display with the name. Front face very easily scratches and takes fingerprints very easily.

For the value the V180 is not a bad choice.
